Chrysoprase
Like Chalcedony, Chrysoprase formed in the crevices of various types of rocks, but especially in volcanic lavas. In metamorphic rocks and hydrothermal veins, it developed at low temperatures as a precipitation of silica solutions with nickel impurities. Quality Chrysoprase is rare because it has been extensively mined since the times of the Greeks and Romans. Currently, the largest deposits are located in the United States, Russia, Australia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Madagascar, Brazil, and India.
The ancient Greeks honored this stone, whose value was considered equivalent to that of gold. The Greeks believed that Chrysoprase protected against depression and bad moods. Chrysoprase was already used by the Greeks and Romans to make official seals and cameos. In Egypt, Chrysoprase was used as a stone for protection, healing, and against black magic. During the Baroque period (17th and 18th centuries), it was widely used as an imitation of Chinese jade, both in jewelry making and in decorative elements.
Currently, due to its magical properties, Chrysoprase is widely used in a wide variety of esoteric items.
Effect on the physical plane: Chrysoprase, with its calming green tones, is a stone indicated for heart problems; it stabilizes blood circulation and the nervous system. It is highly recommended in cases of hardening of the arteries. It helps with depression, hypertension, heart problems, prostate issues, sexual impotence, headaches, migraines, lack of appetite, among many other problems.
Effect on the psychic plane: Through its calming effect on blood circulation, Chrysoprase conveys calm and a sense of balance. It is a stone of hope and renewal that fosters fidelity and harmony among those who love each other. Meditation practitioners highly value this stone because it transmits inner calm, often leading to a peaceful and deep sleep. It is also indicated for an inability to adapt, introspection, harmony, self-recognition, spiritual growth, selfishness, and envy. It is great for attracting friends and achieving success in new endeavors. It reduces superiority and inferiority complexes, activates and energizes the Heart Chakra, known in Sanskrit as Anahata, and balances yin-yang energies.
